Ashruf
Ashruf specialises in Mathematics and Physics at GCSE and A Level, including Further Mathematics, and offers Biology and Chemistry at GCSE. He provides extensive admissions support, including Oxbridge preparation, personal statements, mock interviews and coaching for mathematical papers such as the MAT, TMUA and STEP. He also supports IB and AP Mathematics.
Ashruf has tutored for several years, specialising increasingly in Mathematics and Physics, the subjects he most enjoys. The large majority of his students achieve A or A* grades. Much of his work centres on competitive admissions, where he has guided around ten students through the full Oxbridge process, from personal statement to admissions tests and mock interviews, with several securing offers. He has real insight into what selective universities reward, having found that successful candidates combine genuine curiosity with the ability to make quick connections under questioning, and he builds his interview preparation around exactly that kind of agile thinking.
His teaching is conversational and example-led rather than rote. He prefers to take on challenging problems and work through them collaboratively, nudging students towards the solution so they build genuine problem-solving ability. He treats Mathematics as a subject where finding the most efficient route to an answer matters more than memorising prescribed methods, and encourages students to think flexibly. For admissions, he draws on past papers and well-chosen olympiad questions to build the stamina these tests demand.
Ashruf holds a BA (Hons) in Information and Computer Engineering from the University of Cambridge (Clare College). He achieved A* in Mathematics at A Level, ranking first in his cohort, alongside Further Mathematics and Physics, and is going on to study for a master’s in Data Science.
His combination of strong mathematical training at Cambridge, several years of high-performing tutoring and significant experience guiding students through Oxbridge admissions makes him particularly effective with ambitious students aiming for top grades and the most selective universities.
