FAQs

My child lacks confidence—how will tutoring help?

Many students struggle with confidence, especially if they’ve had a bad experience in school or feel overwhelmed by the subject. Our tutoring approach helps students build confidence by breaking down difficult topics, reinforcing understanding, and celebrating progress.

My child is already working hard—why are they still struggling?

Studying isn’t just about memorising facts; your child must learn how to apply knowledge to unfamiliar contexts, especially in exams. Many students put in hours of revision but struggle with exam technique, structuring answers, or understanding mark schemes. A tutor can help identify and address these specific challenges.

How do I know if the tutoring is working?

We track progress through regular assessments, exam-style questions, and feedback from both the student and tutor. You’ll receive updates on improvements, areas of focus, and strategies for further progress.

Which exam boards do you cover?

We tutor for AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC and CIE exam boards. We also cover the International Baccalaureate (IB)

How do online tutoring sessions work?

We set up a learning space which is joined at the time of a session. In the learning space, students are on video call with our tutors and use an interactive whiteboard with resources. Parents and students are often surprised how easy it is!

How often should my child have tutoring sessions?

This depends on their current level and goals. Some students benefit from weekly sessions for consistent progress, while others may prefer more intensive lessons closer to exams. We can recommend a schedule based on your child’s needs.

What if my child has a busy schedule?

We offer flexible scheduling, including evening and weekend sessions, to fit around your child’s commitments. Tutoring is designed to be productive and efficient, so even one hour a week can make a significant difference when supported with independent study.

Why are Greenhill Academics tutors considered the best you can find?

We select tutors with exceptional academic backgrounds, proven experience in helping students reach their goals, and in-depth knowledge of exam board requirements.

Building Greenhill Academics

A Mission to Change Education Through People and Technology

Education is not made to fit all students.

Parents and students often find themselves lost academically despite following the path laid out by existing institutions. They are often made to feel insufficient or broken for not fitting the mold, for whatever reason this may be.

However, it seems unreasonable that this one-size-fits-all approach SHOULD fit all students. But we live in a time where there are alternative options available.

As both a student who’s used private tuition and tutor who’s taught all ages, I’ve seen this firsthand. Students struggle, not because they weren’t capable, but because they weren’t given the right support at the right time. Parents are frustrated by the lack of transparency and quality control in private tuition. And highly capable tutors struggle to reach the students in need of help.

I wanted to fix this. So I built Greenhill Academics.

It Kinda Built Itself…

I never set out to build a tutoring company. I simply used my knowledge of my subjects to help students improve, and parents asked for different subjects. I joined forces with academics who I knew from Oxford and Cambridge universities to provide high quality tuition.

The more parents who I interacted with, the more I noticed the same issues:

  • Parents struggled to find high-quality, reliable tutors.
  • Tutor performance was mixed when time was short before important exams
  • Students and tutors struggled to make impactful connection

I knew there had to be a better way.

So, I started by focusing on quality. Every tutor at Greenhill Academics has attended one of the top universities in the world—usually Oxford or Cambridge. We rigorously screen tutors to see whether they match our philosophy on education.

Then, I tackled transparency to make sure parents and students felt less lost in the process. We use clear, structured learning path—not just ad-hoc lessons. We built systems to track progress, provide feedback, and ensure every student was actually improving, not just clocking in hours.

And finally, I wanted to give tutors the respect they deserved. No more underpaid, low-commitment jobs. We built a model where top educators could thrive, focusing on teaching rather than chasing clients or dealing with admin.

The Bigger Mission: Changing Education Through People and Technology

Greenhill Academics uses the combination of both people and technology to provide the absolute best possible service.

We believe education should be:

  • Personalised: Every student learns differently, and teaching should adapt to them—not the other way around.
  • Human: Great tutors don’t just teach subjects; they inspire confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.
  • Efficient: Technology should enhance learning, not replace it. We use automation and AI to streamline processes but keep teaching deeply personal.
  • Ethical: Our tutors aren’t just freelancers-for-hire; they’re part of a professional community that values integrity and impact.

Where We’re Going Next

Right now, Greenhill Academics is growing fast. We’ve built a reputation for quality, and we’re working with students across the UK and beyond. But we’re just getting started.

  • We’re using technology to provide high quality lessons with the fastest booking system.
  • We’re developing better onboarding and training for tutors to ensure the highest standards.
  • We’re expanding into international tutoring to help students worldwide access top-tier education.

Most importantly, we’re staying true to our mission: changing education through people and technology.
