Holly
Holly specialises in Mathematics, supporting students from KS2 and KS3 through 11+ entrance preparation, GCSE and A Level, including Further Mathematics. She also offers dedicated preparation for the MAT, Oxbridge admissions and mathematics olympiads, and is particularly experienced in helping students build confidence in higher mathematics.
Holly has tutored since the age of fifteen, working with students across a wide range of ages and settings. She has delivered one-to-one tuition in GCSE and A Level Mathematics and for entrance exams, using tailored materials and worked examples, and has coached students for Oxford interviews and the admissions process, including guiding one student through their full Oxford application. She has a particular passion for olympiad mathematics, the side of the subject she finds most rewarding, and has built a substantial bank of resources for it.
Much of Holly’s teaching centres on encouraging young women in mathematics. She has served on the committee of Oxford’s Women in Maths Society for two years, mentoring students throughout their degrees, and has particular experience with the women’s olympiad as an accessible route into higher-level problem solving. Parents whose children need to build genuine confidence, especially girls finding their feet in the subject, will find this a real strength. Her lessons are clearly structured, beginning by mapping out what a course will cover so students can track their progress and revisit weaker areas, with a consistent emphasis on building confidence alongside competence.
Holly is reading for an MMath in Mathematics at Exeter College, University of Oxford, where she has been awarded her college’s Collections Prizes in both 2023 and 2024. She achieved A* in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A Level.
Her combination of Oxford mathematical training, several years of tutoring, and a genuine talent for building students’ confidence makes her especially well suited to students preparing for competitive admissions or simply aiming to grow in the subject.
