Maisie

Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Maisie specialises in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and Music, supporting students from KS2 and KS3 through 11+ entrance preparation, GCSE and A Level. She also provides university admissions support, including Oxbridge preparation for the sciences, interview coaching, admissions test preparation and guidance on personal statements.

Maisie has worked as a private tutor and mentor with students across a wide range of ages and stages. She has tutored pupils aged 11 to 16 across KS3 and GCSE Mathematics and English, as well as A Level Mathematics, planning tailored lessons around each student’s individual learning style and supporting them with exam preparation and problem-solving technique. She has particular experience working with neurodivergent students, helping them recognise and apply their own ways of thinking to overcome academic challenges. Alongside her subject teaching, she has worked as an admissions tutor for Year 13 students applying to Oxbridge in Biochemistry and Natural Sciences, conducting mock Oxford-style interviews and guiding students in scientific reasoning, critical thinking under questioning and confident verbal communication. She has also provided academic and pastoral support to younger students as a peer mentor, having completed safeguarding and counselling training.

Her teaching is tailored and relationship-led, built around understanding how each student learns best and developing creative ways to explain demanding concepts clearly. She focuses on building genuine confidence and engagement alongside strong exam technique, and supports students in developing effective study skills and problem-solving strategies. For admissions students, she offers detailed, personalised feedback on interview technique, subject knowledge and how to approach unfamiliar scientific problems, preparing them for the intellectual demands of the Oxbridge process.

Maisie is a final-year Molecular Biochemistry MSci student at the University of Oxford, where she has achieved High First-Class marks throughout and been awarded an academic scholarship in each year of study. She achieved four A* grades at A Level in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and holds Gold Certificates in the Senior Chemistry, Physics and Biology Olympiads. She is a qualified first aider and holds an Advanced DBS check.

Her combination of outstanding academic achievement at Oxford, several years of tutoring and mentoring experience, and a warm, tailored approach to teaching makes her especially well suited to ambitious students, whether they are building confidence in core subjects or aiming for competitive places at Oxford and Cambridge.
